Sustainability has been an important part of Oslofjord’s development for many years.

The destination has been designed with a long-term focus on energy efficiency, environmental responsibility and sustainable operations. At the same time, the area has been planned to create attractive spaces for people to meet, move and spend time together.

With approximately 200,000 square metres of buildings and facilities, operating Oslofjord requires significant amounts of energy. Through continuous investments in energy infrastructure and more efficient systems, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced over time.

Key initiatives

• At least 95% of the energy produced on-site comes from renewable sources
• Hotel buildings are designed and classified as low-energy buildings
• Large parts of the destination are car-free, creating a safer and more enjoyable environment for guests
• Buildings and outdoor spaces have been designed to make efficient use of natural light and to integrate with the surrounding landscape

Sustainability at Oslofjord is not limited to individual projects. It is an ongoing effort that influences operations, future development and collaboration with event organizers, suppliers and local partners.

As Oslofjord continues to grow as a destination for conferences, congresses and large-scale events, sustainability remains an important consideration in how the venue is operated and developed for the future.
